uacherArts
uachtarARTS is a voluntary community art group founded in 2013 in Oughterard. Their aim is to promote the arts within the local community, to support artists and to develop innovative ways of engaging with the arts. The group meets on a weekly basis and exhibits at the Oughterard Courthouse.
The theme for this exhibition was prompted by the beautiful stained glass window by Harry Clarke in Oughterard’s local church. Clarke is renowned for his intricate stained glass and book illustrations, characterised by vivid colours, elaborate details, and a blend of Gothic and Art Nouveau styles. This led uachtarARTS members to explore his diverse styles, concepts and use of different mediums throughout his life. Twenty-seven of the group are participating in this exhibition, each bringing their own unique style and interpretation of Connemara, inspired by Harry Clarke.
To honour his legacy and his love of the West, uachtarARTS intends to highlight examples of the original work of Harry Clarke with a display of photographs and books showcasing his artistry. They hope this exhibition will inspire the audience with a deeper appreciation of both Harry Clarke’s contributions to art and the creativity within the uachtarARTS community.
Opening Thursday, September 19th at 6pm.
Where: Above the Signal Bar, Station House Complex
