Woodland Symposium Double Bill

Forest/ry is a short film by Noelle Gallagher, focusing on the restoration of Sitka plantations to biodiverse woodland at Interface in the Inagh Valley. This special screening features a live cello response by Eimear Reidy, who composed the original score with Natalia Beylis.

Forest/ry premiered at the Earth Rising festival at IMMA in October 2022 and has been shown at Docs Ireland, FICIMAD, KIFF, The Galway Film Fleadh, and the DC Environmental Film Festival. Gallagher has received several awards, including the Debi O’Hehir Residency Award from the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Individual Artist Bursaries from Galway County Council, and Visual Arts Bursary Awards from the Arts Council of Ireland.

Carrying Wood is an experimental dance film and performance by Linda Schirmer in collaboration with composer and multimedia artist Brett Sroka. It reflects on our dependence on resources from rural geographies, exploring the cultural practice of collecting firewood and the complexities of the energy crisis. Commissioned by Interface Inagh and funded by the Arts Council Ireland, with support from Galway Dance, it captures movements inspired by the topography of the Western Way.
