The Half Room

What began as a weekly gathering among friends with a shared love of folk songs has grown into The Half Room a new vocal group poised to release their self-titled debut album.

Though newly formed, the band’s members are well-established artists and singers in their own right. Featuring the evocative vocals of renowned Dingle singer Pauline Scanlon and the warm, rich tones of Nicola Joyce (of Galway trio The Whileaways), the group’s harmonies are grounded by the raw, earthy delivery of vocalists Eoin Wynne and Fabian Joyce.

With minimalist guitar arrangements and subtle ambient textures, The Half Room distils folk music to its essence, placing the song and the singer at the heart of each performance. Their sound journeys from the battlefields of Flanders to the storm-swept coast of Lisbon, weaving emotion, texture and narrative into every note.

Rooted in Irish traditional music and deeply informed by American and European folk traditions, the group’s repertoire reflects a lifetime immersed in song.
