Nature’s Balance

Tackling Invasive Species and Innovating for Ecological Restoration

Join us at the Clifden Arts Festival for an insightful discussion on the Dúlra Project, a crucial initiative focused on controlling the spread of Rhododendron ponticum in the ecologically sensitive SAC areas of Connemara and Mayo. Dúlra, The Irish for Nature, addresses the significant threat this invasive species poses to the delicate local ecosystems. Despite its attractive appearance, Rhododendron has severely impacted biodiversity, displacing native vegetation and wildlife.

This event will delve into innovative approaches for managing invasives, including circular economy solutions like using wool and biochar to restore ecological balance. Attendees will gain valuable insights into sustainable practices and the role of natural materials in conservation efforts.

Don’t miss this engaging session, perfect for anyone passionate about environmental protection and the future of our natural landscapes.
