Martin Hayes is celebrated as one of the most influential musicians in Irish traditional music today. Deeply rooted in the music of East County Clare, his unique interpretations place the tradition within a contemporary context, creating a soulful and vibrant style that resonates with modern audiences. Hayes has collaborated with musicians from various genres, including Bill Frisell, Ricky Skaggs, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. His contributions extend to modern dance, theatre, film, and television, and he has performed with Sting, Phoebe Bridgers, and Paul Simon. As artistic director of the Masters of Tradition festival in Bantry, Co. Cork, and co-curator of the Marble Sessions at the Kilkenny Arts Festival, Hayes continues to shape the future of Irish music.

Cellist Kate Ellis is dedicated to the performance and exploration of new music, with collaboration at its heart. As Artistic Director of Crash Ensemble and cellist with Martin Hayes’ Common Ground Ensemble, she has toured with Bono as part of his Stories of Surrender show. Kate has worked with numerous composers, including Steve Reich and Nico Muhly, and performed with artists like Rhiannon Giddens, Ye Vagabonds, and Glenn Hansard, who have all performed at the Clifden Arts Festival over the years. Recent projects include a new work by Ed Bennett, a duo collaboration with Martin Hayes, and curating a contemporary music series at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Together, Martin Hayes and Kate Ellis represent the vibrant and evolving landscape of Irish music, blending tradition with innovation and captivating audiences worldwide.
