Cantairí Chonamara & Cór Mhaigh Eo present Lumières: A Baroque Mass for the 21st Century

Two choirs from the West of Ireland, Cantairí Chonamara and Cór Mhaigh Eo, come together for the Irish première of Lumières: A Baroque Mass for the 21st Century by acclaimed French composer Jacques Loussier.

Loussier, renowned for his fusion of classical and jazz traditions, described Lumières as a work intended to “exalt the spirit” and connect with audiences of all beliefs. Drawing on the structure of the traditional Latin Mass, the piece weaves together classical voices, rock rhythms, modern harmonies and improvisational flair to create something wholly unique and powerfully uplifting.

This remarkable composition – never before performed in Ireland – will be brought to life by a 70-voice choir, professional soloists and full orchestra. The performance promises to be a dynamic and stirring celebration of musical innovation, blending classical forms with contemporary energy.
