Dordán

Galway-based ensemble Dordán are renowned for their unique fusion of traditional Irish music with the European Baroque style. Their rich, distinctive sound is shaped by a group of masterful musicians, each bringing their own depth and artistry to the group.

Mary Bergin, widely recognised as one of the world’s finest tin-whistle players and a recipient of the TG4 Gradam Ceoil Traditional Musician of the Year Award, brings lyrical finesse and vibrant energy to the ensemble. Kathleen Loughnane, a master harper, is known for her sensitive renditions of ancient airs and spirited dance tunes with equal dexterity. Fiddle player Dearbhaill Standún blends classical precision with deep roots in Irish traditional music and a passion for sean-nós song, creating a sound that is both refined and heartfelt.

Since their formation, Dordán have toured extensively across Ireland, the United States and Europe, earning acclaim for their artistry and innovation. They have performed for many heads of state, including Ireland’s three most recent presidents: Mary Robinson, Mary McAleese and Michael D. Higgins.

All of Dordán’s music is arranged, adapted, or composed by the group members themselves, reflecting a deep respect for tradition alongside a spirit of creative exploration.
