Danny Knicely, Riley Baugus and John Flower at the Wild Goat Cafe

The Center for Cultural Vibrancy returns to the Clifden Arts Festival with a trio celebrating Appalachian musical traditions. The group features Danny Knicely, a versatile multi-instrumentalist renowned for his mastery of the mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and flatfoot dancing. A beloved performer in Clifden, Danny has collaborated with icons like Vassar Clements and Tim O’Brien.

He is joined by North Carolina’s Riley Baugus, an acclaimed Appalachian banjo player and ballad singer who grew up immersed in traditional southern music. Riley’s exceptional banjo skills and deep musical roots have led him to tour with Dirk Powell and Tim O’Brien and contribute to albums by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant.

Completing the trio is bassist and vocalist John Flower, known for his unique “gut bucket” playing. Together, they deliver a captivating performance of Appalachian music, making this a must-see event at the festival.
