Curlew Theatre Presents: Emigration Road

Since the world of emigration is much more various than the world represented in HUNGER the emigration we are talking about in this “play for voices” —-after a more wide-ranging historical prologue–is emigration to the United States. Taking us through The Famine Years, The American Wake, The Voyage across the Atlantic, The Arrival in America and what to expect there….The Homesickness.

We will also mention briefly contemporary emigration and the’ hard road’ ahead Our main intention is to convey something of the feelings that attach—probably for all of us—to that big word in our Irish life, “EMIGRATION.” and what it means for those leaving and those left behind.
