Bill O’Leary

Bill O’Leary is a third-generation Washington native, descending from a line of Kerrymen who arrived in the States in the 1890s. Between his grandfather, uncle, cousin, and himself, the O’Leary family has logged over 100 years of consecutive bylines in Washington newspapers. After starting his career as a filmmaker, Bill traded his movie camera for still cameras, spending nearly 40 years covering all aspects of life in his hometown for the Washington Post. His assignments included parades, portraits, pressers, police, and politics. Notably, he was assigned to cover the counting of electoral votes in the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021.
