Altan are celebrating 40 years on the road with special concerts in Ireland and abroad, inviting guest artists to join in the celebrations. For four decades, Altan have been at the forefront of traditional Irish music, blending the raw energy of Donegal fiddle style with a distinctive melodic sensibility.
Their latest album, Donegal (2024), released by Nashville-based Compass Records, has received widespread acclaim, revitalising their international appeal. Known as tradition-bearers, Altan have remained true to their roots while embracing modern arrangements to attract new audiences. Their integrity and musicianship have earned them high regard among peers, making them one of the most popular Irish traditional bands ever. Notably, they were the first Irish traditional band signed to a major label, Virgin Records, in 1995.
