Avi Ratnayake Connemara Chamber of Commerce
Landscapes and Observations is a series of landscapes and closer observations by Artist and photographer Avi Ratnayake. This provides a unique, somewhat otherworldly perspective into everyday, familiar sights that have been presented as observations of wider landscapes and a closer study of its constituents, often in patterns and the natural pitted against the artificial. Thay have been captured using an digital infrared camera and have had no further digital manipulations.
Born in Sri Lanka, Avi Ratnayake emigrated to the UK in 1994. He is now based in Galway, and has been producing artwork and photography since 2003. He started out in digital photography then moved on to analogue and now uses a combination of both. Having studied Fine Art at university in Bristol, he went onto studying Photography at the City of Westminster College in London. He has exhibited in the Coach House in Dublin Castle, Ireland and in the Truman Brewery, London UK to name a few. Avi Ratnayake’s work encompasses portraits and landscapes, macro and fine art and touches on the subject of interfaces; meeting points between worlds, cultures, and different forces where interesting observations can be made.
