Aistear an tSaoil (Life Journey) – Cois Cladaigh Art Group Casla Conamara
This group exhibition showcases the work of the artists who attend the Art programme in Cois Cladaigh Resource Centre in Casla, Conamara.
It is a diverse group of adults ranging in age from 18 up to mid-60 from the South Conamara Gaeltacht. The group is based in an Adult Day Service Centre that Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities attend.
With generous funding from Creative Ireland, the artists have explored the nautical and maritime heritage of Connemara.
Most of the artists come from families who are involved in the traditional Conamara seafaring activities of fishing, sailing, rowing, seaweed harvesting and boat-building.
They have made ceramic vessels and have used painting and printmaking to explore this deep connection they all have with the sea.
There is also a musical aspect to this project as local Gaeltacht musicians will work with the group to produce a soundscape and a musical composition to accompany the exhibition.
Opening Wednesday, September 18th at 4pm.
Where: The Tea Room, Station, House Complex
